tree form hydrangea

There is nothing quite like Hydrangeas in tree form to add elegance and structure to your garden. Of all the small, flowering trees, hydrangea trees are the most dramatic when in full bloom. In addition, they are easy to grow and they will bloom dependably year after year. These traditional yet hard-to-find specimens provide balance, stature, and scale.

Hydrangea trees do not naturally grow into the shape of a tree. Left to their own devices, all hydrangeas will grow into shrubs with multiple stems. They are pruned into single trunk trees when they are very young. Dependably bloom on new growth every year in mid-summer, and the show is spectacular.

Planting the hydrangea tree properly is the key to its success. It should be planted in a location that receives at least four hours of sun a day for most of the spring and summer. When planting a young Hydrangea tree form, you should provide extra bracing & support for the tree the first year or two.

Bobo Tree form

An ornamental tree that will definitely turn heads! Engulfed by large white flowers in summer, they continue to grow and lengthen as they bloom. This outstanding ornamental starts off bright white and turns to pink as it ages. Why have a tree with only one colour – when you can have two?

Pinky Winky Tree form

The large white panicles open in mid to late summer, & as summer turns to fall the florets at the base of the panicles turn pink. The result is spectacular two-toned flower panicles that can reach up to 16 inches in length! A real show-stopper that’s also very easy to grow.

Fire Light Tree form

Vibrant panicle blooms of pink-red and white blend together for a symphony of colour that makes this tree a focal point favourite. You will enjoy the blooms from mid summer to fall. Despite it’s elegant appearance, it is a very tough tree and a reliable performer.

Quick Fire Tree form

It showcases white, cone-shaped blooms that emerge about a month earlier than other Hydrangeas & will cover the plant with 8-12" blooms in late May or early June. The real show begins as these blooms change color to a fine, dark pink all summer long.

Limelight Tree form

A deciduous dwarf tree, selected and trained to grow in a small tree-like form with the primary plant grafted high atop a standard. Features bold conical lime green flowers with white overtones at the ends of the branches from mid summer to late fall. This ornamental tree is simply beautiful!

Vanille Fraise Tree form

Perfect for adding spectacular late summer colour to any part of your yard. The lovely green foliage on top will turn into a mass of creamy white showy flowers that, as the summer progresses, will be irresistibly tinged with pink and eventually turn to deep red in autumn.

Phantom Tree form

The giant, densely packed, conical blooms measure up to 15”, and they’re held upright on strong stems that prevent flopping. The flowers emerge creamy white, turn to sweet pink as summer evolves, then become dark pink for fall. So much colour all summer & fall!
